COMPETITION RULES
ARTICLE 1: ORGANISATION
The competition is organised by the ASBL de Valorisation des Parcs et Jardins de Wallonie (not for profit organisation working to develop and promote Wallonia's parks and gardens). Entering the competition implies that you accept the current rules and regulations, any provision arising therefrom, and any decision taken by the panel of judges. This panel sees to it that the competition is run properly. Its decisions are final, including on matters not explicitly addressed under the present rules.
ARTICLE 2: DURATION
The competition is on-going. Photos are selected seasonally (four times a year). The competition is free to enter for anyone who wishes to participate, excluding parks and gardens staff, members of the organisation and their families.
ARTICLE 3: CATEGORY
The competition is to obtain the best photographs of typical aspects of the parks and gardens that are members of the not for profit promotional organisation.
There will be only one prize per family at the same address.
ARTICLE 4: CRITERIA
Photographs must be taken in the parks and gardens or from nearby. Photographs that have appeared in a publication, such as a tourist or cultural brochure may not be entered.
Photomontages are not acceptable. The organiser reserves the right to refuse photos that do not meet the criteria.
ARTICLE 5: COLOURS AND SELECTION
To qualify, photos must be digital, in colour or black and white, and must be the entrant's individual work.
Entrants must submit a digital file via the web site: a file in .jpg format not exceeding 5 MB per photo.
ARTICLE: PRESENTATION OF PHOTOS
Each entrant may submit a maximum of three photos.
ARTICLE 7: ASSIGNMENT OF COPYRIGHT
Entering the competition entails the assignment of copyright for the photos to the ASBL, which in turn undertakes to use photos for the sole purpose of promoting its parks and gardens. Photos may be published in various places (web site, press, tourist guide and so on). The organisation further undertakes to cite the name of the photographer on all publications. Photos may not be used for commercial purposes without the prior agreement of the photographer.
Entrants must complete the assignment of copyright contained in the annexe. This document must be returned with the photos submitted.
ARTICLE 8: PANEL OF JUDGES
Entries will be judged by the ASBL's team, comprising the panel of judges, namely Mme Dendoncker, M. Deplasse and representatives of the Jardins Exceptionnels de Wallonie.
The panel will consider primarily the vividness and dynamic character of the photo (enhancement of the subject), the tourist value, originality, centring, technical mastery and artistic creativity. The panel's decision shall be final.
ARTICLE 9: PRIZES
Prize-winners will receive different prizes according the chosen winning photos.
ARTICLE 10: RESULTS
Prize-winners will be informed personally by the ASBL, by e-mail or by post. The winning photos will be published on the organisation's web site.
ARTICLE 11: FINAL PROVISIONS
Entrants shall undertake to comply with legislation relating to privacy and to obtain the consent of any person who may be recognised in any photo (parent or legal guardian in the case of a child).
Entering implies acceptance of current rules and regulations. Cases not covered by the above terms and conditions come under the sole competence of the ASBL de Valorisation des Parcs et Jardins
